One important idea to bear in your mind is that in this topic, you have to be clear what type of bonding the substance has. For example, iron metal has metallic bonding while hydrogen chloride gas has covalent bonding between the atoms of H and Cl in a molecule of HCl whilst there are weak permanent dipole-dipole (pd-pd) forces of attraction between the HCl molecules. Be clear about the  type of bonds between the atoms (ionic, covalent or metallic) and inter-molecular forces between the molecules if it is a simple molecular substance (eg. id-id forces, pd-pd forces [Van der Waals' forces] or Hydrogen bonds). Note that a few substances have giant molecular structure.
Summary of Chemical Bonding Correction : CH3OCH3 is a polar covalent molecule.

Please note that for chemical bonding, electronegativity is a very important concept to learn. It will also come in handy later in Organic Chemistry.

Chemistry still rocks for me! Send your frens some e-Hi-5s and encourage them in the journey of life!
